Audiometrage

The audiovisual engineer and artist Daniel Cantero is the creator of the unique sets Audiometrage Live Performances. When he was a teenager, he started to research electronic devices and to build his first music mechanism, becoming a pioneer at the creations of some electronics tools to create music.

Always on the lookout for something new and different, it became clear his ability to move the audience during his performances as resident DJ in Monteagudo, one of the most eclectic underground clubs of the 90’s which he created along with a group of friends. This experience enabled him to share his interests with other artists and take part in various projects, while offering innovative performances in different clubs and locals, even in the streets of Madrid, the first time the trance flooded the streets of Madrid at Drum Parade in 2007.

He designed and created his own professional study of sound, where he experiments and creates his sounds. In 2009, he decides to go beyond to improve his capacities and knowledge in the world of the sonorous creation, and moves to Barcelona to study a Master in Sonología in the University Pompeu Fabra, known for being one of the leading laboratories of the investigation in musical technology worldwide.

In this University, Audiometrage get in touch with this new instrument, the Reactable, which seems to be the ideal instrument to transform his musical creativity into a new performance: create music by manipulating objects over an illuminated and translucent round table that launch the sounds in an audible and visual way.

He acquired one of the first reactable´ prototypes of the world, and then he started to work with this powerful machine. Now he has become the first artist who has created his own sounds and has launched them through reactable live.

He has demonstrated a total comprehension of the sound from the creation until live music performance, and an advanced use of the reactable prototype that he is reinventing in his own way. Artists as Gabriel Memar, Meller and Lemochill have trusted in Audiometrage to remix some tracks, which have been given his personal style and have been launched live through reactable.
